Fundraising for Ukraine - Stuart's journey from Bridgnorth to Ukraine on his classic Honda C90
As you know, the humanitarian situation is increasingly dire and desperate. Millions of people have no safe place to call home. More than 2.5 million have already left Ukraine, while countless more are still trapped underground, taking cover from the shelling, and desperate for a safe escape.
Red Cross teams have been working around the clock to get critical care to those who need it most, both in Ukraine and its bordering countries. But with recent freezing temperatures, and ongoing violence, an enormous number of people urgently need help right now.
24th February (anniversary of the Russian invasion) myself, a 58 year-old ex British championship motocross rider will set-off from my home town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England riding a classic Honda C90 step-thru scooter. Riding only on non-motorway roads, I’m heading to a Red Cross logistics base (site TBA) as close to the Ukrainian border as possible. I will be taking with me supplies for babies and young children. But most of all I will be delivering HOPE.
The people of Ukraine need to be reassured, that we, their fellow Europeans are as resolute as they are in ensuring the bully will never win.
DONATIONS -
I respectfully request ALL personal donations ONLY be the minimum amount of £2 per person (plus £1 JustGiving handling fee). This is then raised by £0.50 thanks to gift aid, added for all U.K. tax payers). Thus the net donation received by the charity for each person will be £2.50. Personal sponsors are then requested to “share” news of the ride on all social media platforms, email contacts etc.
This challenge is more about the number of folk who engage with the event, rather than the actual money we raise. But collectively we could achieve both,
Corporate donations - the sky’s the limit . . . Fill your boots!
